I thought I wrote this review years ago. I genuinely love this game and its core mechanic. You really do feel like a danger to yourself and others after all you've been through, uncertain if the protagonist is being chased by other warriors looking to be the strongest, or simply someone so obsessed with strength and so broken by a combination of war and the need to constantly prove himself that he's lost touch with reality, lashing out in violent, unpredictable ways.

This game is short, but its so good. It's worth a play.

It's been like for 20 min. What do I do?

talking to people may yield insights, seek the strongest.

Pretty cool game, though I have one complaint: the R key doesn't work properly, forcing me to refresh the browser. I'm playing on Firefox, if that's part of the problem.

Superb interaction between the classic "explore and talk to everyone" pseudo-RPG loop and the slashing mechanic. Timing your interactions with NPCs so that your PTSD doesn't just kill them is completely unique and works super well - you end up doing everything with intent, speeding through dialogue, exploring while waiting... I loved it.

For AZERTY keyboards, use win+spacebar to turn on QWERTY mode and use your "§!" key (on the left of your right shift key) to slash.

Brilliant core mechanic, lovely palette and score. I immediately ate shit as I lifted my hand from the controller to scratch my face and it really set the mood for the rest of the experience. A sort of languid paranoic state. Very dope.

Damn... I actually found myself anxiously trying to hold off on interacting with NPCs until the 'SLASH' things had just passed.  With longer dialogue bits I had to record a screen capture and rush through the dialogue so I could play it back and read later.  Kinda felt like social anxiety. :)

This was really well done. Good job!

Can't figure out which key to press for 'SLASH' therefore I'm stuck at the opening screen. Have pressed every key on my keyboard.

i loved this! the slashing mechanic was stressful in the best/most compelling way, and the soundtrack was great too. great storytelling in such a short experience

I visited the shack three times in search of wisdom, yet I never learned to see beyond the edge of my own blade. The shack is empty now.

I like the concept of this game, it is well executed! Constantly keeping my finger on the slash button and feeling a bit paranoid that I’d get a game over was a neat way to tie the gameplay with the narrative. The last encounter was pretty intense as well! I liked the music too! Great work on this!

this game rules. perfect melding of story/gameplay/controls. nice music too

This was a wonderful, touching little game. I liked the contrast between the simple, wistful and wise tater tot npcs and the constant state of paranoid tension that the swordsman lives in, and how the interaction between their two ways of living brings about so much pain. The music really ties everything together, too.

i am the storm that is approaching

neat lil place with mechanics that work perfectly with the story. Had to do a spiderstance to play it on keyboard but i think that adds to the feel.
